The Sacrament of Christian Marriage is a serious and sacred union that calls a man and a woman to each other in a most profound and permanent way; it is not something to be undertaken lightly or hurriedly. Therefore, the Church invites engaged couples to prepare themselves spiritually for marriage.

For Engaged Couples

The first thing you should do is set an appointment with one of our parish priests. You can do this by contacting Administrative Assistant Colette Davis at 813.876.5841, ext. 2229 or who will set the appointment for you. Marriage preparation must begin at least 6 months in advance of the anticipated wedding but should not begin more than 12 months in advance.

Christ the King typically performs marriages and marriage prep (for those getting married somewhere else) for couples living in the South Tampa area with at least one party registered and active for at least four months.

Couples who do not live in the South Tampa area must contact their local church to begin wedding prep and may use our church for the ceremony if desired (please call for associated fees).

Setting a Date for Your Wedding

Please note that we will not book a date for any weddings more than 12 months in advance for active parishioners (or 9 months in advance for non-parishioners). Wedding dates will not be added to our church calendar until after the couple meets with the priest and the deposit paid. You can ask by phone or email about dates that might be available, but nothing will be added officially (or even penciled in) to the calendar until after meeting with the priest.

Weddings are scheduled with respect to the couple’s wishes and subject to the availability of the church (which seats 640) or the chapel (which seats 170).  Most weddings are scheduled on Saturdays; however, they can also be celebrated on other days of the week with the exception of Sundays, Holy Week, and Holy Days of Obligation.  We offer three time slots for Saturday Weddings (11:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 7:15 pm).

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Our main church building (not the chapel) will be closed between April 2018 and December 2018 for construction.  During this time, we will still have use of the chapel (which holds 170 guests), but we will be using the McLoughlin Center for Sunday Mass.   If you are planning on getting married during that time period and do not want to use the chapel or the McLoughlin Center for your wedding, we will be happy to take care of your marriage preparation as well as find a local Catholic church or chapel for you to have your wedding.  We will likewise send one of the clergy of Christ the King to celebrate the wedding along with our music director and wedding coordinator.
