STEWARDSIP: Time, Talent and Treasure
Growing in Stewardship Can be an Exciting Spiritual Journey
Christ the King Catholic Church is a stewardship parish made up of over 2500 families with time, talent and treasure to share. As members of Christ the King it is our responsibility to be active and supporting members. It is with this support that Christ the King Parish will continue to thrive in the South Tampa community, growing as a strong faith community, meeting the needs of our Tampa community and parishioners and strengthening as we work together for the Future of Our Faith for generations to come.
What is Stewardship? Stewardship is a complete lifestyle of total accountability and responsibility acknowledging God as Creator and Owner of all. Stewards as disciples of Jesus Christ see themselves as caretakers of all God's gifts. Gratitude for these gifts is expressed in prayer, worship, offering, and action by eagerly sharing these gifts out of love of God and one another. (NCSC 1993)
Sharing the Joy of Stewardship. Our giving to the church should not be about giving to the needs of the church. It should be about needing to give as Christian stewards. We recognize that all that we are and all that we have are gifts from God, and that these gifts are given to us with a purpose. Through giving we offer ourselves in service and devotion to God. We become stronger in faith and develop a more personal relationship with God. Through our weekly offering we are simply saying thank you to God for all He has given us. It is a powerful statement of faith.
Since Christ the King is a stewardship parish, there are many opportunities for you to be an active steward. Sharing your gift of time is an expression of love as you help strengthen the parish by your presence. Sharing your gift of talent gives you the opportunity to teach others, develop your own gifts and share in God's plan. Sharing your gift of treasure is a way of saying thank you for the many blessings and gifts God has given you. Christ the King Church needs and depends on financial resources from parishioners to pay for operational expenses such as building upkeep, electricity, staff, religious education materials, program expenses, outreach, youth programs, and faith building ministries. Without the financial resources of stewards, Christ the King would cease to exist as the vibrant, growing parish we have been for over sixty four years.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another
as good stewards of God's varied grace. (1 Pt. 4:10)
